Something we see throughout all of our branches in the U.S., is that Fall is a very popular time of year to get married! Who could blame couples for wanting to get married when weather is cool & crisp, and avoiding that summer heat or the winter cold?! We sure don’t! With a majority of our couples postponing to Fall 2021, we wanted to write a blog that assists all couples who have postponed or are originally planning to wed during this beautiful time of year! Below we have listed out our Top Ten Fall Wedding trends based on our conversations with our clients, conversations with our favorite vendors, and what we are seeing trend throughout the wedding industry! xo
1.One of our favorite touches.. Pampas Grass:
Now this is something we absolutely LOVE! Ask any of our planners what their favorite floral touch is for this upcoming year, and they will all say Pampas Grass! This amazing, boho, and natural touch fits right in with the trending fall color scheme, and adds so much volume and interest to any of your floral treatments. Whether it is included in your ceremony altar, your centerpieces, a hanging floral treatment, or all of the above, Pampas Grass will enhance everything it touches, & will definitely be something that your guests will notice and love instantly!
2. Round or Asymmetrical Ceremony Structures
We are seeing that the circular arches and the asymmetrical arches are still trending for next year, and we definitely can see why! These gorgeous structures are always a wow factor and a statement piece to say “I Do” in front of! Adding touches of floral and/or fabric give that romantic touch, and we cannot wait to see what florists come up with for Fall Weddings!
3. Interactive Food Stations:
Now this is a trend we have always LOVED, and are excited to see continue for weddings in the future! Couples & Caterers have been getting very creative with these stations, and Fall allows to do some of the BEST interactive food stations! Some of our favorite food stations for fall are: Pie Stations (um Warm Apple or Pumpkin Pies at a wedding.. yes please!), S’more Stations, Popcorn Stations, Caramel Apple Stations, and Charcuterie Boards! Guests are going to leave your wedding blown away and full!
4. Wedding Cake Details:
Texture, Texture, and more Texture! For Fall Wedding Cakes, texture is absolutely the way to go! We are seeing bakers get very creative with how they are texturizing cakes including painting directly onto the cake, or going as far as adding layers and layers of detailed texture like the cake below in the second photograph! As always the “Naked” Cake look is still trending, with adding floral and even the dripped paint look! All of these cakes are absolutely gorgeous and fall right into this seasons trends!
5. Bold Invitations:
Bold & Beautiful is what is trending for Fall Wedding Invitations! When your guests receive their invitation in the mail, it is time to capture their attention with a statement color that matches your color scheme! Not only are couples today thinking about how the invitations look, but they are considering the environment as well, which we completely stand behind and appreciate! When purchasing your invitations, be sure to ask about their eco friendly paper options, as well as their environmentally friendly inks!
6. Round Tables are Taking a Back Seat:
We have been seeing lately that a lot of couples are getting pretty bored with the standard round table reception look, and want to bring in more rectangular tables to the mix! Whether it is doing all rectangular tables or mixing them in with the round tables, couples are looking to make their wedding different then the rest, and this is an easy way to changes things up! For Fall Weddings especially, the wooden farm table look goes perfectly with the natural color scheme, and allows for a blank space to make your vision come to life! If your venue includes these tables in their rental items, this can be a really budget friendly option as well by just adding garlands of greenery, candles and maybe a pop of color with the napkin!
7. Wedding Party Style:
Neutral colors for the dresses and allowing your bouquets to pop is the way to go for Fall weddings! We are seeing bridesmaid dresses actually become more cohesive with everyone wearing the same color, vs. in years past where the girls would wear different hues of a color or the color scheme. We are also seeing an increase of satin fabric dresses, and are actually loving the mid-length dress as you can see in photos below!
8. Dark & Earthy Tones:
For fall couples, we are seeing a majority head towards the dark & natural tones for their wedding day! Nothing is more romantic then having earthy tones mixed with candlelight and greenery! Colors we are seeing trend for Fall Weddings are: Dusty Rose, Cinnamon Rose, Taupes, Sages, White, & Burgundy. Having the darker hues pop as bridesmaid dresses, floral touches, & napkins for example are really gorgeous next to the natural tones, and capture beautifully on camera!
9. Touches of VELVET:
Velvet is still trending! This upcoming year however it is just touches of velvet instead of entire bridesmaid dresses or table linens which was trending in the past. A few of our favorite ways to have hints of velvet throughout your wedding day are: ribbon around your bouquet, the cake table linen, the couple’s chairs at the Reception, and table runners! Subtle hints of velvet will go a long way!
10. Last but not least… What is the Bride wearing?!
2021 wedding dresses are ALL about the details!! Dresses are no longer simplistic, and are now adding touches of pearls, lace, beading, and more! The Juliet style sleeve and the Puffy Sleeves are also back, and we are even seeing pantsuits & mid-length dresses trending as well! The Virtual NYBFW this year showcasing top Wedding Dress designers ranged in all kinds of styles, that basically gave us the feel that 2021 just does not have any rules when it comes to Wedding Dresses!
