Winter is here, and we look forward to this season every year when it comes to weddings (the cold.. not so much)! A winter wedding always gives us a beauty and romance that just can’t be captured during any other season! For those of you planning your very own winter wedding, we have written our Top 10 Winter Wedding Trends that we hope inspires you to plan your dream wedding during the most wonderful time of the year! xo
1.Faux Fur Coats for the Bride + Her Tribe
We mean, this has to be number 1 right?! The second a bride chooses a winter date, this is one of the first things our brides tell us they are excited to purchase after they choose their dream dress, and we cannot blame them! Not only do they purchase one for themselves, but some brides also generously get one for each of their bridesmaids!
Our bride below actually was given this exquisite faux fur jacket from her Grandmother, which makes us love it even more!
2.Wedding Capes
Although the faux fur jacket is stunning, we have noticed brides choosing a different option to cover themselves while taking those beautiful outdoor photos! What are they choosing you ask? We are seeing more and more brides choosing to wear a statement cape over their wedding dresses, and we are OBSESSED!
When purchasing your wedding dress, ask your seamstress if there is a way to incorporate a cape to you very own gown! These can be sewn onto the dress or can be a cover like our bride did below!
3. Velvet Bridesmaid Dresses
A Bridal Party of Velvet Dresses is a statement, and we are here for it! Every time we have a client say they are doing velvet bridesmaid dresses, we instantly become excited, and know their photos are going to be jaw-dropping! I mean see our bride’s tribe below! Those dresses POP off of the page, and we are thrilled that this trend is continuing to grow more and more popular!
4. Formal Black and White Weddings:
There is something about a Black and White color scheme at a Winter Wedding that just screams romance! The black really allows the white to pop, and makes the candlelight even brighter! This classic and fashionable trend will never go out of style!
5. Emerald Green Color Schemes:
We absolutely LOVE the romantic and statement color that is Emerald! This color just pops everywhere, and looks good on everyone and in every detail! From Bridesmaid Dresses and Groomsmen Tuxedos, to Wedding Invitations and Napkins, this color looks exquisite, especially for a Winter Wedding!
6. Romance with Candlelight Galore:
The sun goes down a lot earlier in winter months, which means that more candlelight is definitely needed! We love nothing more than taper candles throughout the entire space like our client did below! This is another reason why Winter Weddings are the MOST romantic!
7. Long Sleeved Wedding Dresses:
An advantage of having a wedding during the cooler months of the year is that brides can wear dresses that would be too hot for summer celebrations, which includes the classy + exquisite long sleeved wedding dress! This gorgeous option allows a bride to look stylish + classic, while keeping her warm when taking those beautiful outdoor photos!
8. Dark + Bold Bridal Lips:
While spring and summer weddings may be great for shades of pinks when it comes to lip color, a winter wedding gives you the chance to be a little bit more bold! Winter calls for darker shades of berry, plum, and red that will all make your lips pop in your wedding photos! This color always stands out against a white dress and the beautiful snow!
9. Nature Inspired Motifs such as Greenery, Antlers, and Wood
For crisp days of winter, nature-inspired weddings are a favored choice for brides and grooms all over the country when it comes to their special day. From hanging natural decorations in the reception venue, to adding greenery everywhere at your altar like our client did below, to using the beautiful natural outdoors for the ceremony itself in the snow, planning your dream naturalistic wedding has never been easier or more popular!
10. Delicate + Beautiful Popular Winter Wedding Floral Options
When talking to clients who are hesitant to plan a winter wedding, one of the first worries that come up is if there are enough flowers to choose from during this cold time of year. However, we are excited to say that there are PLENTY of incredible flowers to choose from that fit beautifully into bouquets, boutonnieres, centerpieces, arrangements, and basically anything you could ever want floral in on your wedding day! So if you want to plan a winter wedding, don’t be afraid of your flower choices, you have amazing options to create your dream day!
Some of our favorite winter flowers are: Roses, Anemones, Amaryllis, Lilies, Ranunculus, Camellias, and Poinsettias!
