Natalie and Colby had their destination wedding in Moab, Utah on October 14th 2017. Late fall is a perfect time for a desert wedding. The temperature is hot enough during the day, where you feel like you are in a desert, yet when the sun starts to dip in the canyon you can feel just the slightest amount of chill in the air. It’s desert weather without all the heat, like we said, it is perfect.
Moab is a special place to both Natalie and Colby – throughout their time dating, they went hiking and camping several times in Moab. Not only is the town home to TWO National Parks (hello, Arches National Park and Canyonlands National Park) but it also feels like home to Natalie and Colby too. When planning for their wedding it was only natural that Moab was the number one choice for both of them. Together, they not only wanted an *amazingly beautiful* backdrop for their ceremony but they really wanted to show all their guests why Moab is their favorite place to adventure.
Throughout the year of planning, Natalie really wanted to focus in on overall wedding design. She wanted the design to speak for itself, just as the destination of Moab does too. By playing with the natural tones of the desert, and adding in some funky textures (marble, copper, leather) we were able to achieve exactly the vision that Natalie had. So much fun! The color palette highlighted creamy earth tones with just the the slightest pop of desert orange. The florals brought the color palette to life (understatement!) and the tablescape design was EVERYTHING. We are obsessed!
The day itself was filled with happy happy tears *real wedding moments* and small little adventures that just Natalie and Colby got to partake in. Their ceremony was on the lawn at Red Cliffs Lodge, overlooking the Colorado River. Natalie’s dear friend was their officiant, and their vows to each other made everyone reach for a tissue (seriously!) Cocktail hour immediately followed, and for the reception guests walked down a short desert path to the Castle Creek Winery onsite. The reception room was utterly transformed into an fun yet sophisticated desert wedding, it was super dreamy! The reception design featured a custom installation of edison bulb lights hanging over every single table, a sweetheart table fit for a King and Queen and jewel-toned water goblets for each guest. STUNNING.
Natalie and Colby’s wedding was beautiful, elegant, timeless and unique – everything you could ever wish for! The heartfelt toast from Natalie’s dad at the end of the night (complete with a slideshow) was one for the books and the epic dance party that ensued afterwards had everyone out of their chairs for the rest of the night. It was SUCH a fun night to an amazing celebration and drop-dead gorgeous wedding!
* For us, Moab proved to be one of the most perfect destinations for a wedding (we may be a bit biased ;)) Red Cliffs Lodge was an amazing venue and we can’t wait to be back! We are ALL for destination weddings – this one in particular was so much fun to plan and design!
