We had the honor to be a part of Sara + Greg’s Morgan Manufacturing Wedding, and just HAD to share these beautiful photographs from Paper Antler Photography! We decided to do this blog a little differently because the bride & groom answered our follow-up questions, and we thought it may be beneficial for those getting married to see how another bride & groom went about choosing their venue & vendors, and how they felt on their wedding day! Enjoy! xoxo
What were your overall thoughts on how your wedding day went?
“The day goes by extremely fast, but at the same time, almost feels like it is going in slow motion. It actually was the best day (which I always felt like such a cliche, but was so true). The love we felt from the moment our friends and family started flying in was such an incredible feeling. We loved dancing with everyone until 1 in the morning. Because we wanted to throw an epic party, we were thrilled when Blue Water Kings kept everyone on the dance floor. In fact, the only time the dance floor wasn’t packed was when they took their break. I tried to make sure that I spent time with Greg. At the wedding it is easy to get pulled away and distracted and before you know it the night is over and you hardly have spent any time with your husband (this happened the night before at our rehearsal dinner/welcome party). But, we made a decision to try to stay together and experience the night together. Which made for great memories that we can share together.”
Why did you choose your venue & certain vendors during the planning process?
“The second we walked into Morgan MFG, we knew it was the perfect venue for our wedding day. We wanted a venue that exuded quintessential Chicago, given that 80% of our guests would be from out of town (I am from California and Greg is from Boston). Morgan Manufacturing was able to provide that classic Chicago look and give us the excitement of several spaces for the night. Once we saw that we could host an afterparty and change the look, we were sold. We wanted to make sure we threw the best party, and wanted to focus on giving our guests a memorable experience. We kept this in mind when planning our big day and choosing our vendors. Blue Plate was willing and able to help us brainstorm our West Coast/East Coast cocktail hour, and Midwest-focused dinner, which is why we ultimately selected them. We also were blown away with the ideas that Victoria and Atmosphere Events Group were able to come up with to make the space uniquely us. We also could not have made it through the wedding planning process without our Chicago wedding planner, Gina from Simply Elegant Group, who made sure we did not go too crazy during the planning process and coordinating everything during the day of. With her, we were able to not worry about the logistics of the day and just enjoy each other and the events as they unfolded.
At the end of the day, choosing vendors who you trust is the most important advice I could give to any other brides out there. Knowing that we had chosen the best vendors who understood us as couple and what we wanted from the day, allowed us to trust that everything would come together and to fully enjoy the day. And of course, knowing that the Paper Antler and One Fine Day Productions teams were capturing our day, allowed us to know that no detail would go unnoticed and we would be able to enjoy them for years to come through the photos and video.”
