We LOVE multicultural weddings. Seriously- they’re SO awesome. From the multiday celebration to amazing use of color, they’re such an amazing experience to behold. Indian weddings are the embodiment of tradition and celebration. Uniting more than two individuals- but entire families. Archana & Sarvesh were such a blast to work with for their Hindu Temple wedding in Maple Grove.
Now, for those of you who aren’t familiar with Indian weddings- here is our super QUICK overview. The traditional Indian wedding last about 3 days. The first day is ganesh poja, an intimate gathering for the bride, groom and close family, often within the comfort of the couple’s home. Day two is the Mehndi ceremony, which is immediately followed by the sangeet (the introduction of families, casual meal, possibly some dancing). The final day’s reception is a celebration that closely resembles the more traditional American wedding reception (minus the white dress and with the addition of some really cool dances added to the mix). We usually help the couple with the second and third day’s activities.
Archana’s attire was awe-inspiring and the intricate detail of her Henna is breathtaking! We loved the color choices for the main reception too- the bold navy blue was a gorgeous backdrop for the vibrant florals. The yellow, orange, and pink blooms just POPPED. The additional table decorations were inspired by the couple’s love for travel. Tables were named after favorite destinations and little hints of these adventures were included- from the salt shakers to the figurines, each table was unique.
The most fun part of the reception for us was watching the amazing dances performed by the couple’s friends! It was such a fabulous celebration! We loved helping to plan Archana & Sarvesh’s beautiful Hindu Temple wedding.
