We were so excited to hear that one of our favorite blogs, the Reverie Gallery featured one of our styled shoot collaborations this week! If you follow our blog weekly, you likely already know that we love participating in styled shoots. If you haven’t been following along until now, well, you’re in for a treat! Styled shoots are a way for wedding industry pros to get to know each other, as well as showcase their work and unique vision. They are also a great opportunity to show off a new venue- which was one of the biggest reasons for this shoot! JX Event Venue is seriously awesome- it is an open floor plan, industrial chic space with great character. We had so many ideas running through our heads it was hard to pick just one.
We wanted to create a concept that was fresh and with just enough quirkiness and ‘wow’ without being unattainable. We loved the idea of a twist on a “Minnesota winter” (Note: no red flannel in sight!). I absolutely adore winter weddings, and we wanted to showcase how beautiful they can be despite the cold! Pulling some inspiration from our state’s Nordic roots, you’ll see nods to Scandinavia through the traditional kransakake (an 18 layer almond ring cake that is traditionally served in Norway), plush furs, the dinner menu, plenty of outdoor elements and even the couple’s ‘names’! We quite literally pulled the outside in with our real pine tree ceremony backdrop (actual discarded Christmas trees getting a second purpose!) and the 20′ long suspended branch install over the head table, dripping in crystals and flickering floating flames. We styled and set the entire head table and three guest tables in both round and Farm Table to show how to realistically scale back that total “wow factor” head table. The suspended wedding cake has been a trend we’ve been watching, and again wanted to interpret it in a scale attainable for real weddings. The kransakake rested on a stack of wood disks and suspended by chains thoughtfully wrapped in greenery. Dazzling chandeliers hung below the cake and above the ceremony to bring in just a hint of sparkle!
