Have you ever wondered what a wedding planner's wedding looks like? Well, you're in for a treat because today we're featuring our owner, Ashley's wedding! In honor of her two year anniversary, we're re-visiting the day! Here is the scoop on what it took to make Ashley and Nathan's wedding dream come true!
The common threads that make a bride a bride are the same- head over heels in love, ring on our previously naked left finger, the swell of unexpected emotion that hits us as the strangest times, the bubbly excitement and the hope of what the future will bring. As a wedding planner turned fiance, we feel it too.
However, we've also figured out exactly what we want, before we even knew we wanted it. After watching hundreds of carefully planned weddings unfold before our eyes, we know that if we want peonies in our our bouquet, we have to get married in the Spring or Summer (or know that you are going to pay an insane amount for them to be flown in...) . We know that we don't necessarily need a lavish 3 tier wedding cake for an intimate gathering of 100 guests, because at least 20% of them won't eat it. We know that we can't control what our maid of honor, best man or parent's say during the toast. We know that we want to write our own vows and exactly who should marry us. We know that the wedding day WILL NOT go 100% as we expected and that we just need to be present in the biggest moments. We know that this is the biggest day of our life too, and no matter what, we're just a bride, hopelessly in love with our groom. And we can't wait to start our life together.
We always encourage our couples to make their wedding day all their own. We love some Pinterest inspiration, but we also love YOUR creativity to shine through too!
There is no doubt that Ashley and Nathan did just that!
They picked a stellar team of vendors- which isn't a surprise in the slightest! Although it is added pressure for a wedding professional to work with another wedding professional, there is also an unspoken understanding that this is a BIG deal and honor. Which is why Ashley selected long-time friend, Jennae of Blush and Whim to help her with the big day!
You may notice from the photos a recurring teddy bear theme. This sentiment is party of what makes Ashley and Nathan so uniquely them. Here is Nathan's version of the story...
"Early in our relationship we were up late one night talking on the phone about things that were most precious to us. Ashley began to go into the story of her Teddy Bear that her Grandmother had given to her when she was first born. She began describing what it used to look like. This adorable dark brown teddy bear had become worn out with the very constant hugs and snuggling that Ashley had given it throughout the years. One day many years ago she and her Grandma Marge (G is what Ashley called her) were looking for a replacement bear for Ashley, Ashley and G had searched in stores, at flea markets, even the internet provided no results. It became a small life goal for the two of them to find a new bear.
Sadly her Grandma had passed before their goal was met. Ashley dealt with the reality that she and Grandma would never find the bear together.
As Ashley told this story- in my mind I was picturing a very specific dark brown teddy bear that I was familiar with. I stated that I was given a similar bear when I was very young. I went on to tell her that the tag of my bear said 24K Polar Puff. Ashley began to burst out in tears. She couldn't believe I had the very same bear she and Grandma had been looking for all those years together.
We both feel that it was more than mere coincidence that I owned the exact bear Ashley and her Grandma were looking for. God and Grandma were definitely involved in bringing us together. "
Gah! Doesn't it just give you butterflies? We love, love. And we love sharing it with you! Happy Anniversary Ashley and Nathan! XO!
